been principal viola with the Gothenburg Symphony, Neeme Jarvi, conductor. He has been guest principal in over a
dozen European orchestras and is featured chamber player in numerous worldwide
festivals. This is his third CD on Crystal Records. The American Record Guide

ShostakovitchÕs
Viola Sonata was written just before his death, inspiring Khachaturian to write
his Solo Sonata just months later. BacewiczÕ last published work was a viola
concerto, and Martinu returned to the viola near the end of his life. The music on this CD are profound
works, possibly among the most moving pieces ever written by these composers.
This is CorteseÕs
