Ismael Betancor, trumpet, was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1976. He studied with Alejandro Casta–eda and Santiago Luri, and had lessons from G. Vosburgh, H.Steketee and T. Valenczei. He has received awards in several national and international trumpet and chamber music competitions, including Lieksa, Finland; Madrid, and Tenerife. Since 1996 Betancor has been principal trumpet of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also very active as a chamber musician and concert soloist.

Josˇ Luis Castillo, piano, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1976, began his musical studies in the Music Conservatoire of Las Palmas with Esperanza Estades. Later he joined the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sof’a in Madrid, receiving lessons from Russian pedagogues Dmitri Bashkirov and Galina Eguizarova. After receiving full scholarship from D. Alejandro del Castillo, he graduated from the Manhattan School of Music, having played extensively both as soloist and chamber musician in Europe and the United States. He has been soloist several times with the Gran Canaria Philarmonic and Manhattan School  of Music Orchestra. Since 2002 he has taught piano and piano literature at the Music Conservatoire in the Canary Islands. Recently Castillo recorded  a disc with works by Andalusian composers of the 19th and 20th century for the collection The Musical Hispanic Patrimony  edited by the Musicological Society of Spain.

Carlos Rivero, cello, began his musical studies in the Music Conservatoire of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he graduated in violoncello and chamber music under the supervision of Zdzislaw Tytlak. He continued his training in the Sweelinck Conservatorium of Amsterdam with the teacher Jean Decross, soloist of the Concertgebow Orchestra, and later with Mar¨al Cervera in Barcelona. Since 1993, he has been member of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra. He also holds a teaching position in the academy of this orchestra.

William Schmidt, one of the worldÕs leading exponents of brass writing, explores his Jazzberries: Raspberry Riffs, Blackberry Blues, Boysenberry Boogie, and Strawberry Jam. Piazzolla, the best known composer of tangos, contributes four wonderful tangos, transcribed from bandoneon here for trumpet, piano, and cello.
