Ismael
Betancor, trumpet, was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
in 1976. He studied with Alejandro Casta–eda and Santiago Luri, and had lessons
from G. Vosburgh, H.Steketee and T. Valenczei. He has received awards in
several national and international trumpet and chamber music competitions,
including
Josˇ Luis
Castillo, piano, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1976,
began his musical studies in the Music Conservatoire of Las Palmas with
Esperanza Estades. Later he joined the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina
Sof’a in
Carlos
Rivero, cello, began his musical studies in the Music
Conservatoire of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he graduated in violoncello
and chamber music under the supervision of Zdzislaw Tytlak. He continued his
training in the Sweelinck Conservatorium of

explores various colors of trumpet in ensemble with piano and cello. William
Schmidt, one of the worldÕs leading exponents of brass writing, explores his
Jazzberries: Raspberry Riffs, Blackberry Blues, Boysenberry Boogie, and
Strawberry Jam. Piazzolla, the best known composer of tangos, contributes four
wonderful tangos, transcribed from bandoneon here for trumpet, piano, and
cello. American composers Shapiro, Robbins, and Bradshaw
round out this wonderful album.
