Thomas Stevens is retired from his position as principal trumpet player with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held for 27 years.  He was described by a European publication, ÒBrass Bulletin,Ó as being Òundeniably one of the most important voices in the development of the trumpet in the latter part of the 20th century,Ó primarily for his efforts in promoting, through performance and premiere recordings, new works for solo trumpet, as well as the publication of many of his educational materials on the same subject.  He is also a published/recorded composer and was an active educator throughout the world including being a faculty member at the University of Southern California, CalArts, and Music Academy of the West.
