Richard Giangiulio joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in 1969. He was principal trumpet for 32 years. Mr. Giangiulio holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School, and was awarded First Prize from the Paris Conservatory where he studied with Maurice Andre as a Fullbright Scholar. He has appeared as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony, the Knoxville Symphony and at festivals in Ansbach, Germany, Lucerne, Switzerland and Lieksa, Finland. 

 

Giangiulio is also an active conductor. He was Assistant Conductor for educational concerts with the Dallas Symphony from 1977 – 1982. In 1979 he became Music Director and Conductor of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, a position he still holds today. In 1993 he also became Music Director and Conductor of the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving, Texas.
