These are all the recordings of Sousa marches ever
made by the Sousa Band. They were made from 1897-1930 and have been processed
with the Cedar System. (digital) to remove much of the surface noise (to remove
all noise would destroy some of the sound of the band, which is true and
clear.). Restoration Engineer was Seth Winner. There are 60 different marches with the Stars and
Stripes performed 4 times, once with Sousa conducting. “This is it –
the one indispensable historical release John Philip Sousa enthusiasts have
been waiting for.” (Fanfare Magazine)
Conductors include John Philip Sousa (7
marches), Arthur Pryor, Herbert L. Clarke, Walter B. Rogers, Henry Higgins,
Rosario Bourdon, Joseph Pasternack, Nathaniel Shilkret, and Edwin G. Clarke.
These are the Sousa Marches played by the Sousa Band the way Sousa intended
them.
